Enteral Nutrition Therapy

Enteral Therapy is the process of administering nutritional formula into a patient’s gastrointestinal tract by means other than the mouth. This can be accomplished via a gastrostomy tube (G-Tube), jejunostomy tube (J-Tube) or nasogastric tube (NG Tube). A doctor places the appropriate apparatus in the functioning portion of the patient’s digestive system.

The nutritional formula is then administered through the tube by means of a feeding pump, bolus (syringe feeding) or gravity feeding. There are many different types of formulas that are designated to meet the nutritional needs of patients with varying diagnoses.

Oral Nutritional Supplements are foods, usually liquefied and high in caloric content, to supplement normal eating and promote weight gain.  Supplements can be prescribed by a physician when a patient is unable to finish the required ration of solid foods.

Option 1 Nutrition Solutions has an extensive inventory complete with different formulas ranging from standard to diabetic to metabolic formulas.  We carry a vast list of supplies, pumps, and equipment to meet the needs of our patients.

We contact our patients on a monthly basis to confirm their order and needs for the month. Our trained Technicians then deliver the product directly to the patients’ home on a monthly basis, eliminating any risk of running out of product.
