Leadership Team


Rick Winterich
Chief Executive Officer
Rick Winterich joined Option 1 Healthcare as the interim CEO in December 2013 and transitioned to the permanent leader in September, 2014. He has over 35 years of operational and financial leadership experience that he brings to Option 1. He has held numerous C-level positions in a variety of public and private companies ranging in size from Fortune 500 corporations to start-up technology companies. He has successfully raised capital through private placements and initial public offerings (IPOs). Rick has successfully completed many merger and acquisition transactions as a part of a venture capital organization. His main areas of expertise are growth strategies, cash flow management, operational integration and M&A, all focused on optimizing shareholder valuation.

Prior to joining Option 1, Rick successfully completed Canadian business unit divestitures for Ridgeline Energy. Was the CFO/COO of Ensynch, a Microsoft Gold Partner which was successfully sold to Insight. Served as CFO of Mobility Electronics, a start-up technology company that raised $55M in an IPO in 2000. Held several C-level positions in multiple companies owned by the venture funds operated by the Harbour Group. As Director of Finance for the Square D Corporation, a $1.8B Fortune 500 Company, he was responsible for strategic planning, IT and the financial operations of domestic and foreign production facilities. He held progressive financial management positions with Burr-Brown Corporation as it grew from $20M to over $400M in revenue over a three year period. His career began in the Cleveland office of Ernst & Young.

He holds a Bachelor Degree in Accounting from Baldwin-Wallace College and is a CPA (Inactive) in Ohio.

Al Charlesworth
Chief Financial Officer
Al Charlesworth, CPA joined Option 1 Healthcare Solutions in April of 2011 as the Chief Financial Officer. Al oversees accounting, finance, accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash and debt management and all revenue cycle functions. Since joining Option 1, Al has helped develop and implement the organization’s revenue cycle and financial processes. These processes have helped Option 1 to significantly reduce days sales outstanding and ensure that Option 1’s collection rate is one of the best in the industry. In addition, Al has developed a financial and revenue cycle team that supports the continued growth and ongoing management of the organization through extensive metrics and other financial reporting.

Prior to joining Option 1, Al was in operational roles as Senior Vice President and President of Subsidiaries or regions for DSI Renal, Inc. and American Dental Partners, Inc. where he oversaw the entire operations of each companies’ Western Regions. Al also played a key role in helping to grow Renal Care Group, Inc. as their West Group Chief Financial Officer into one of the nation’s best dialysis companies before it’s sale to Fresenius Medical Care. Prior to these positions Al held a variety of financial roles in the healthcare industry with companies such KPMG, Arizona Hospital and Healthcare Association and Blue Cross/Blue Shield.

Al earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Northern Illinois University. He is a member of the Arizona Society of CPAs and the American Institute of CPAs and resides in Tempe, AZ with his family.

Brian Murphy
Vice President of Sales
Brian Murphy joined Option 1 Healthcare Solutions in May of 2014 as the Vice President of Sales. Brian oversees sales, marketing, managed care contracting, and clinical support services. Since joining Option 1, Brian has continued the development of the sales organization to include sales automation and industry leading branding materials establishing Option 1 as the nation’s leader in enteral therapy. In addition, Brian has developed a clinical team that supports the sales organization through nutrition reviews, continuing education units (CEUs) for customers, and regular consultation with patients in need of advice.

Prior to joining Option 1, Brian was Vice President of Sales and Marketing at NextCare Holdings where he oversaw sales, marketing, and customer service. Brian played a key role in growing NextCare into one of the nation’s largest Urgent Care brands as NextCare more than doubled in size during his tenure. Prior to that Brian held a variety of financial and business development roles in the travel industry with companies such Aramark, Orbitz and American Express.

Brian earned a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Arizona State University, and resides in Scottsdale, AZ with his family.
