The HR Generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level, working closely with the Director, HR in supporting the organization. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: benefits administration, employee relations, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruiting/employment, payroll and employment law compliance.
Essential Duties:
- Administers health and welfare plans including enrollments, changes and terminations; processes required documents through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate record keeping and proper deductions
- Provides assistance to employees and leaders in resolving employee relations issues; coach managers to settle work-related conflicts and methods of elevating performance using discretion and independent judgement; handle employee counseling, professionally conduct investigations and employee complaints, escalating as appropriate
- Conducts recruitment for exempt and non-exempt personnel; maintain timely and accurate job postings; track applicants in ATS system
- Manages new hire process including background checks and drug screens, offer letters, new hire onboarding and orientation
- Maintains accurate and complete employee files and I-9’s
- Conducts exit interviews, analyze findings and make recommendations to leadership team for corrective action and continuous improvement
- Maintains HRIS records; process bi-weekly payroll; compile reports from database
- Assists with human resource plans and procedures for all company personnel; recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in department; files timely reports as needed to stay compliant with federal and state regulations
- Maintain and coordinate employee recognition programs
Experience and Educational Requirements:
- Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business or related field
- Minimum of 2 years of Human Resources experience required
- Proficient in Microsoft suite of products including Outlook, Word and Excel; previous experience with HRIS systems (ADP preferred)
- Current Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification preferred
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding payroll, benefits, and employee issues
- Must possess a strong sense of urgency and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple tasks to meet deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to interact in a collaborative manner with other departments and teams
